This clarifies it: HSPIN has no intention to turn out the lights as many of you speculate. Quite the opposite. Fewer an more extravagant eruptions of creativity is what you shall see.
After summer 2010, Spencer Berry and I recapped his observations and synthesis from Worlds. One thing he told me was that many players had shared with him that they were missing "HSPIN's extravagant, weird creations from previous years".
This lead me to solidify thoughts that had been fermenting in my brain for a while, and to the changes you have seen recently. HSPIN got famous because of the class-of-its-own, odd yoyo designs such as the ENVY, PYRO or Good&Evil releases. Recent efforts to cater to actively competing yoyo players resulted in frustration, cost and less success. I was running after others' preferences rather than protecting the HSPIN that HSPIN once was.
The BEYOND ENVY is the first release that brings HSPIN back on track. I scribbled the drawings on a pieces of paper during a phone conversation in fall 2010, then took a picture of it with my Blackberry and mailed it to Had for conversion to CAD format. Prototypes were shown with great success during EYYC 2011 in the Czech Republic.
Expect solid ChrisK-style yoyo design... this one is a limited edition playing like a slim, large bearing yoyo, uncompromisingly precision-machined and assembled in Switzerland. Changes since previous versions include raw gap-side finish, "edgy" design in all aspects, large bearing, K-pad response (thanks Had) and a return to hard-core H-profile.

Last time Hadrien visited my family in Basel, he convinced me to give him the remaining Antipodes, so he could fix and tune them. So I sent all 70something Antipodes to France.
Hadrien then grabbed two of his buddies and went at it with max devotion:
All Antipodes were unpacked and disassembled. Each half was siliconed with "flowable", and the yoyos were re-assembled and tested and tuned manually. The yoyos are now fully compliant with the Core Series value promise to deliver affordable, competition-grade yoyos.
The 68 yoyos that made it past Had's eagles eyes are available now. We won't raise the price, but we re-confirm that these yoyos are what we promised they would be!

I realize that the my silence around some changes in HSPIN has lead to all kinds of rumors. I hope to resolve them with this post. The below email was sent to the HSPIN NETWORK on July 29.

Friends,
On July 6, I had a very important and relieving meeting with the other four shareholders of HSPIN. You don't know them, but they are my best friends who have always supported me in the background.
With the advent of my daughter, with my family moving to Switzerland in August, and with the new exciting job I accepted <...>, I will have even less time for yoyos. I know I already frustrated some of you with the lack of attention.
As for myself, I have to be honest and admit that yoyos became a burden to me, no longer fun. We lost USD >30'000 over the last two years, which is appalling. The primary reason for this, is that I was too generous. So I started to worry about finances, and the fun was out of the window.
I got married playing the yoyo, and yoyos will always be dear to me. But I need to be realistic about my capacity.
So during the above meeting, we <...> decided to go back 7 years, when I did this just for fun with my own ideas.
HSPIN will continue. I will produce 1-2 yoyo batches a year. These yoyos will be my own brain childs, and will again be my personal "extravagant", weird style - which is what made HSPIN famous 10 years ago.
I will have to cut <...> costs, including sponsoring, travel, TShirts, stickers, <...>.
