Jan Novotny wins Sout Moravia Yoyo Contest with THE CUT (Czech Republic)
A dream come true - TIGORYLLA 513
This yoyo was inspired by a dream. Yes! Believe it or not.
Noel from our HSPIN NETWORK told me somewhen after Worlds 2008 that he had dreamt of a Tiger version of the Black Lily. A G&E4 with a tiger pattern on it.
I loved the idea, though wasn't really sure how to pull this off. Obviously, we were highly successful in the end as you can see, but this would not have been possible with the great support from the network. Noel gave a few more ideas, Lars handled the anodizer and I worried about the raw halves.
Unfortunatly, I was entirely out of G&E4 halves, so this quickly became a Tigorylla, instead of a Tiger Lily. Admittedly, the latter would have been EVEN cooler for a name, but we're close :)
There is something better than stainless steel with bearings
I have been experimenting with bearings again recently. Steel and ceramics seem to be the most common choices for materials for the miniature bearings used in yoyos. Plastic is always frowned upon.
There's a big "however" here.
Our bearing supplier showed me a different kind of bearing. I am sure it's not completely new in the market and someone must have been using something similar: precision stainless steel bearings with a plastic cage.
Why is there an advantage here: There are the following types of friction applying:
"Rolling friction" between the races and the balls: For this, steel on steel is ideal to avoid microscopic deformation of the material.

I am sending my big gigantic thank-you to Gaberus, Jan and Martin from the hspin netork for representing us at the famous competitive Czech Yoyo Nationals. It seems to have been an amazing contest and it was very sad I could not attend myself.
Most of all: Martin did all of us very proud for winning the Open Division with an 18% lead over the next best competitor!!!
This is an outstanding result and put him in the champions league of players. See for yourself: http://yymcr08.cya.cz/results.html
Martin performed with the ENVY64, for which we have a special sale at the moment:
